Book launch – „Lost Wheels – Atlas of the forgotten cars“ by Dieter Klein

Whenever the term „Lost Place“ is mentioned, one automatically thinks of abandoned buildings, mysterious bunkers and ruins that can no longer be inhabited, which are haunted by photographers and documented in many photos.
But there are also Lost Places, of which one did not think so at first, as the independent photographer Dieter small presented now impressively in its illustrated book Lost Wheels – atlas of the forgotten cars.
This illustrated book shows in many photographs his photo journey across Europe to the remotest areas of the USA. Who wants to get involved in this illustrated book, which is already a little warned in advance, because if one is a lover of vintage cars and of vegetating car fates, which could well break out in tears at the sight of the rusting metal misery.
Over 200 pages, Dieter Klein revisits the automobiles of the past in brilliant, almost mystical-looking photographs. Almost every one of his photographs is able to captivate the viewer with a great love of detail or the big picture. When man leaves, nature reclaims its space, which is impressively shown in many of his pictures, forgotten and overgrown by the green of nature. The conclusion of the pictures is understandable, nature reclaims everything, nature always wins.
In the book the picture language dominates, less the text, which describes the individual scenarios and places. This is but in German and English language. Particularly noteworthy, however, is the meticulousness with which Dieter Klein has assigned each depicted automobile in the multi-page index according to year of manufacture and brand.
If someone now wants to plan his next photo vacation for abandoned cars, he should also know at this point, the author has also in this case only indirect references to the locations of the found objects. Dieter Klein also points out that under certain circumstances not all the cars he has photographed may still be there.
